Medicare Supplement Insurance Plans

Medicare Supplement Insurance, also called Medigap, helps cover the expenses that Original Medicare, Parts A and B, does not. Medicare Supplement Insurance policies are offered by private insurance companies. There are several plans to choose from which are identified by letter. The most comprehensive plan is Plan G and a low cost option is Plan N. Lettered plans will offer the same benefits, however, premiums will vary by insurance companies.

When to Enroll
The Open Enrollment Period for Medicare Supplement Insurance is a 6 month Open Enrollment Period that starts the month that you turn 65 and are enrolled in Medicare Part B. Open Enrollment is guarantee issue, meaning you can not be denied for any reason. If you choose to enroll outside of this period or other special enrollment periods, it may not be guarantee issue, meaning you may be subject to medical underwriting.
